SPLIT-SOLE VS UNISOLE WRESTLING SHOES: BIOMECHANICS & TOOLING GUIDE

In competitive combat footwear engineering, wrestling shoe outsoles divide into split-sole (segmented) and unisole (continuous single-piece) architectures. Split-sole footwear features two independent virgin gum-rubber traction pods bonded at the metatarsal head and heel, delivering an ultra-lightweight profile (195 g per shoe in US size 9) and maximum plantar flexion for explosive penetration shots favored by freestyle and lightweight athletes. SDTDID formulates split-sole rubber at Shore A 58±2 for superior mat bite (dynamic friction coefficient 0.68–0.72 under SATRA TM144). Conversely, unisole footwear integrates a continuous high-coverage rubber chassis wrapped up the lateral sidewall, calibrated at Shore A 65±2 and supported by an internal rigid TPU shank bridge. Weighing approximately 210 g, the unisole provides maximum torsional containment and edge stability, optimal for Greco-Roman wrestlers and heavyweights. Both outsoles require 0.65 MPa high-pressure cold cementing to guarantee ISO 17708 peel strengths of 4.2–4.8 N/mm across our 300 pcs agile production runs.
